popular school presentations

Wednesday, 5 December 2012

I currently offer storytime readings and presentations for children from pre-school to year six. I am happy to custom-design workshops and presentations for high school students. Presentations of interest to high school students would include book production and design presentations, like Tottie and Dot (below).

For current rates, email me here. I can offer discounts for more than one session in any one day, and I offer a copy of one of my latest books for schools willing to host a book signing (either in-house or by order form). I can also speak to very large groups at once, if adequate audio visual equipment can be provided (there is no increase in fee for large groups).

You can also book my services through CreativeNet.

Storytime Readings

Storytime Readings run for:
P to K - 20 minutes
Years 1 to 6 - 30 minutes

For large groups, I can project the book's pages via a Power Point presentation.

Workshops

I can custom-design a workshop to suit your needs, and have much experience with workshops ranging from 3-month writer in residence programmes to 45-minute library courses during school holidays. I am happy to create workshops or programmes for children from years 1 to 12. Email me for more information.

Workshops can include book creation, story-writing and inspiration/ideas, and much more.

School Presentations

The following presentations have been very popular with schools during Book Week. Each session runs for 45 minutes, including a short Q&A session, though all presentations can be shortened or lengthened to suit.

Presentation Type: Class or Group (size unlimited) – Interactive Book Reading and Powerpoint Presentation

Age groups: suitable for grades 1 - 6

Presentation Overview: This presentation takes kids through new release picture book Tottie and Dot, and then takes them on a visual journey through the production of this book, with a particular focus on the illustrations, the working relationship between author and illustrator and how pictures work to complement text, and vice versa. Fascinating for opening wide the picture book creation process. There are two versions of this presentation – one for key stage I kids, and one for key stage II, which features more intricate detail.
